Run for Shelly Spencer
Thank you to all who pledged. Thank you especially to Rayna Runge who by pledging $5 per mile ($130 total), was the biggest contributor! Thanks to you all, we well exceeded our personal team goal of $200. The friends and family of Shelly are very grateful.
Friends and Family of Shelly Lynn Spencer:
Rebecca, Ryder, Jarod, Danny and I will be running in the White Rock Marathon Relay on Sunday, December 11th. We will be dedicating the 26-mile run to Shelly Spencer, who passed away on September 2, 2005. If you would like to pledge money for each mile that we run, please continue reading and send a check according to the instructions below.
Many of you have asked if you could make a donation on behalf of Shelly. All of us agree that White Rock Lake was very important to Shelly and how fitting that this beautiful setting be her last memory.
For the Love of the Lake, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of White Rock Lake, is establishing the Celebration Tree Grove to honor,
celebrate, and remember friends and loved ones by planting trees at White Rock Lake. The Celebration Tree Grove will be located at the northeast edge of the White Rock Lake Park. The project provides new trees surrounding the core of a network of pathways near East Lawther and Poppy. Beneath the canopy of trees, small stone structures will host bronze plaques of remembrance, honoring Lake Lovers past, present and future.
Friends and family of Shelly are raising money for the Celebration Tree Grove project to honor Shelly’s legacy. We would like to memorialize Shelly in two ways; one with recognition on the Founders’ Plaque and second with an individual bronze plaque. Our fundraising goal is $6,000, so that we can reach the level of a White Rock Angel on the Founders’ Plaque ($5,000) and also establish an individual bronze plaque ($1,000) once the Tree Grove is planted.
All donations are tax deductible, as For the Love of the Lake (FTLOTL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization – Tax ID# 75-2835902. We are collecting donations for Shelly’s memorial and will submit on your behalf to FTLOTL. FTLOTL will send you a confirmation letter shortly thereafter. Please make checks payable to FTLOTL and send in by Oct 25th so that we can make the Founders’ Plaque deadline. Send check to the following address:
